Mō te tūnga | About the role Youth Justice offers a pathway for tamariki and rangatahi who have, or are alleged to have, committed an offence. It provides a genuine opportunity to change their lives for the better without a criminal record and to make positive strides forward.As a Youth Justice Social Worker, you will collaborate with rangatahi, their whānau, police, youth advocates, and support services to address underlying factors contributing to offending, aiming to reduce lifelong offending potential. This role offers a chance to positively influence rangatahi and whānau, fostering environments where tamariki and rangatahi can flourish.To be considered, you must hold a Social Work Qualification, Full Registration, and a current Annual Practicing Certificate with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board. Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring A passion for working with youth, building relationships to help achieve positive outcomesA Social Work Qualification with Full Registration and current Annual Practising Certificate Excellent relationship-building skills Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) A commitment to bicultural practice and cultural responsiveness, including understanding Tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o WaitangiUnderstanding of the Oranga Tamariki Act and Youth Justice processes Experience in child protection and relevant legislation ensuring child and youth safety A full, clean driver’s license Nōu te rourou | What's in it for you Remuneration ranges from $81,206 to $97,557, with annual progression based on experience.
