Meals on Wheels driver - Greymouth

Join our Greymouth Meals on Wheels team! We are looking for friendly volunteer drivers to deliver meals in Greymouth and surrounding areas. We require 4-5 volunteers each week day. Shifts start and end at the meal pick up point outside the kitchen at Te Nikau (Greymouth) Hospital. The run starts at about 10.45am and takes about one hour to complete. A contribution towards vehicle running costs is available. For more information please contact Karen on 027 230 9623.Our Meals on Wheels service supports older, ill, and disabled people living at home who would otherwise struggle to provide healthy meals for themselves. We need volunteers keen to deliver hot meals and a friendly chat, to people in need across New Zealand. Your Tasks Pick up meals at 10.45 from the pick-up point outside the kitchen at Te Nikau Greymouth (hospital).Meals are packed in insulated chilly bins. Deliver meals to people and have a brief chat at the door. Return chilly bins to the depot Go home feeling good that you’ve helped someone out today. Volunteer requirements and training You’ll need to be a friendly person who has their own car and a full driver licence. We’ll train you in how to carry out the role and you’ll be supported by Red Cross volunteers or staff members.Meals on Wheels volunteer onboarding may take anywhere between 2-6 weeks depending on your availability and the availability of the local coordinator. NZ Police response time can vary from a few days to about a month after we submit the Police Vet request. Time required Most of our drivers deliver meals once a week every two weeks, however shifts are flexible.Meal pick-up time is 10:45am Monday to Friday. A shift will usually take between60 to 90 minutes to complete. Drivers commit to delivering approximately one day a fortnight or a month.We are looking for an ongoing commitment to this role.Requirements Drivers licence (Full) NZ Police Vetting Others Minimum age 18 years.
