Description
Position Summary The Tax Specialist III is responsible for coordinating various aspects of tax reporting, preparing trust, individual, and charitable tax returns, interacting with Wealth Advisors on tax-related matters, and maintaining tax preparation systems. This role acts as a mentor and subject matter expert for Levels I and II, reporting to the Tax and Financial Planning Team Lead.Duties&Responsibilities Assist in coordinating all aspects of quarterly estimated tax payments and year-end taxes for Fiduciary accounts, including reviewing payments prior to submission and communicating with Wealth Advisors. Analyze tax information, input data, and review return outputs. Ensure timely provision of tax information for accounts with fiscal year-end.Prepare trust and fiduciary tax returns, including tax information letters to trust clients, returns for charitable entities, and individual income tax returns. Handle e-filing of various tax returns and track filing statuses. Provide ongoing tax training (procedures, coding, etc.) to Wealth Advisors, Assistants, and other staff.Interact directly with federal and state taxing authorities to resolve client issues. Mentor Tax Specialists I and II. Collaborate with Advisors and Middle Office to ensure correct setup of new trusts/estates for tax reporting. Education&Experience Knowledge of: Strong oral and written communication skills Federal and state laws and regulations Sophisticated software systems Excellent time and project management skills Ability to: Learn and efficiently use tax preparation software for tax reporting and personal returns Coordinate communication and documents between Wealth Advisors, Tax Team, and clientsPrepare complex tax returns and research complex tax issues Analyze and interpret numerical data Perform duties under time pressures and interruptions Maintain concentration and visual attention for extended periods Apply advanced technical concepts to analyze and solve problems Education and Training:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics Knowledge of Microsoft Office Preferred: Knowledge of Smartsheet CPA or Enrolled Agent designation required 3-5 years of prior tax preparation or accounting experience required Busey values a diverse and inclusive workplace and strives to recruit, develop, and retain talented individuals.
