Description
We are currently seeking someone who is a mid-level Quantity Surveyor looking to step into a Contract Manager role. The Role Organise and manage the Quantity Surveying/Estimating team. Set clear expectations for staff around Tenders, Variations, and all other tender-related clarifications and changes.Streamline the QS team with a view to carrying out all measures in-house, reducing reliance on third-party tender services. Communicate effectively at all levels. Use personnel and capital resources efficiently to deliver excellence, quality, and profitability, while seeking continuous improvement.Develop enduring relationships with key main contractors, including Livingstones, Southbase, Fosters, Downey, Thorburns, Naylors, Watts&Hughes, Hawkins. Oversee the development side of the business, focusing on estimating and QS functions to target and secure work effectively. Liaise with clients before, during, and after projects. Collaborate with the management team to develop client engagement strategies that differentiate us from competitors.Build relationships with key suppliers to ensure competitive pricing on materials. Provide timely and accurate measures for new tenders. Engage with suppliers to price materials at tender stage and negotiate price increases after project award. Manage the variation process to ensure additional pricing and measuring are completed within 5 working days and approved by the main contractor before work begins.Identify works outside of contract scope and ensure variations are submitted and approved promptly. Work with the delivery team to ensure projects are properly resourced with labor and materials. Coordinate with the project manager to order materials accurately, on time, and within allowances.Provide accurate costing spreadsheets before jobs commence for back costing entry into Lentune. Negotiate favorable contract terms, considering margins and retentions. Collaborate with senior management to explore and offer value engineering options during tendering. Requirements At least 3 years of experience in vertical construction on commercial buildings, including tendering and post-contract QS roles.Over 2 years of experience working in New Zealand on tendering and QS for commercial projects, including structural and interior fitout. Experience with one of New Zealand's main commercial vertical build contractors, covering structural build and interior fitout. Ability to manage tender, clarification, margin negotiations, and variation processes with main contractors.Ability to mentor and manage junior staff. #J-18808-Ljbffr
