The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is hiring an Associate Director of Single Cell Biology Lab , a core facility driving innovative single cell and spatial omics technologies. If you hold a PhD in a biomedical field with 8+ years of experience in single cell&spatial profiling techniques, excel at developing and implementing innovative technologies, and are passionate about collaborative, impactful research, we'd love to hear from you! The incumbent will support the Director, Single Cell Biology with ongoing R&D and operations of the Single Cell Biology Laboratory (SCBL) within the Scientific Services at JAX supporting all JAX campuses. Services include single cell molecular assays, imaging-based multiplex assays, and an organoid screening platform. The Associate Director will assist in delivering methods and services supporting JAX and its external partners.Key Responsibilities&Essential Functions JAX-Single Cell Biology Laboratory (JAX-SCBL) Operations: Assists in delivering integrated single cell biology operations supporting all three JAX campuses' needs. Evaluates, tests, and develops new single cell, multiplex imaging, and organoid screening technologies. Ensures implementation of these technologies into JAX Cancer Center research programs through the NCI P30 Basic Cancer Center grant. Provides consultative services for experimental design, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation; supports grant applications and publications with JAX Faculty. Interfaces with other JAX cores for sample collection, sequencing, and analysis. Ensures access to high-quality, cost-effective services, evolving operational approaches as needed (including outsourcing). Supervises four direct reports across Connecticut&Maine campuses and assists in supervising six additional staff scientists. Extends the JAX platform through collaborations, service, and commercial partnerships. Independent Research: Conducts independent research relevant to single cell biology and/or JAX interests; publishes peer-reviewed articles and scientific papers.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities PhD in a relevant biomedical field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Genomics, Cell Biology) Experience in developing, evaluating, and implementing new technologies Over 8 years of experience in Single Cell Biology and/or Genomics Demonstrated collaborative effectivenessExcellent verbal and written communication skills Pay Range: $119,533 - $155,393 #CA-NL6 About JAX: The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution with a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center and nearly 3,000 employees across the US, Japan, and China.
