Waikato Hospital, Critical Care - Hamilton, New Zealand Permanent - 40 Hours per week (1.0 FTE)– Rostered with call duties Salary package (ASMS MECA base plus allowances) based on years of experienceSuperannuation 6% of total remuneration CME NZ$16,000 per year with 10 days CME leave About the role The Critical Care Department at Waikato Hospital is on a considerable growth path to reform and expand the tertiary Critical Care service for our region. We are based in Hamilton and serve the middle of the North Island, New Zealand. Our tertiary catchment is approx. 1.2 million people. As a result, we are looking for FCICMs to come and join this exciting opportunity to be a part of a team working to revitalise the Waikato Critical Care unit.About the Team/Service The Critical Care Department at Waikato Hospital is a 16 bed ICU with an open 12 bed HDU soon to merge to a 28 bed mixed acuity closed department. Our teaching hospital provides all major tertiary services including a major trauma centre, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgical and regional burns care in addition to a busy general and paediatric intensive care. We also operate a retrieval service by both air and road for critical care patients.Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. With around 722 inpatient beds, 22 operating theatres, and a dedicated outpatient clinic and procedure centre, Waikato Hospital provides comprehensive hospital services, including radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy. As a major teaching hospital with affiliations to the University of Auckland, University of Waikato, and Wintec, it offers a dynamic learning environment and access to research opportunities.About you Required skills and experience you will need to be considered for this role: Hold or be eligible to hold vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of practice of Intensive Care Medicine, or equivalent, and must be of good standing.
