This role is pivotal in leading our efforts to ensure accessible and innovative library services that cater to the needs of the community. Kō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this roleAs the Team Leader Lending and Access Services, you will lead a team dedicated to delivering excellent customer service across the Nelson Public Libraries network. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality frontline services and fostering a positive, customer-focused culture. Your key responsibilities will include:Providing leadership and direction to your team, promoting a culture of customer service excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement Driving a strong service delivery culture by overseeing staffing levels and rosters, ensuring consistency and responsiveness to customer needs across all branchesSupporting training and professional development by overseeing the Training and Development Coordinator and ensuring effective induction and ongoing training for all staff Monitoring and reporting on service delivery metrics, driving improvement initiatives where needed Undertaking specific projects and tasks as requiredAbout you | Ko ngā pūmanawa ōu To be successful in this role, you'll need: Proven leadership experience, ideally within a library demonstrating your ability to inspire and develop a team A strong commitment to customer service, with a passion for promoting access to information and resourcesExcellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse community members and stakeholders An understanding of library operations, including lending systems and staff rostering Demonstrated resilience and adaptability in a fast paced environment with, at times, a high degree of ambiguity and changeabilityA proactive and innovative approach to service delivery, with a focus on continuous improvement A relevant qualification in Library and Information Studies or related fields, while not essential, is preferred To be available to work rostered shifts (40 hours per week), including one 'close' (6.15pm) per week, and one weekend shift per 4-week roster cycle.Ko ngā painga mōu | what we offer In return for your skills and experience we offer you a fun, supportive and diverse team who place high value on a positive team culture - the sharing of knowledge and resources, the support offered each other to be successful, and the ongoing training opportunities available withinthe team and externally in the organisation are some of the elements we are proud of.Competitive remuneration packages including Rā Oranga Wellbeing days Relocation assistance available for those relocating from outside of the region Health Insurance Employee perks at local vendors EAP professional and personal development services Ongoing professional development Easy access to public transportIf you're passionate about community engagement and libraries and ready to take the next step in your career, we invite you to apply.
