About the Role As an Ophthalmology Registrar (Non Training), you will undertake some procedures as appropriate to allow the Specialists to treat more complex patients. This is an opportunity for a Non-Training Registrar to step up and take on a district-wide role, hence some travel will be required. You will work 3 days a week in Nelson and 2 in Wairau.You will be provided with excellent surgical training opportunities. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE). The working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. There will be on-call overnight during the week and on weekends. About the Team/Service/Location Nelson Marlborough has SMOs with specialties in Paediatrics, Strabismus, Glaucoma, Oculoplastics, Anterior Segments, and Neuro-Ophthalmology. The ophthalmology team at Nelson Hospital includes training registrars, non-training registrars, orthoptists, optometrists, clinical nurse specialists, and technicians.For more information on living and working in Nelson, click here. About You As an Ophthalmology Registrar (Non Training), you will: Hold valid registration or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). Have a professional work attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.Have empathy to support the emotional needs of patients. Be adaptable to work across different teams. Be committed to applying your knowledge in the fields of ophthalmology and orthopaedics.
