The daily pay range for teachers teaching on call is $309.28 to $465.09, based on experience and qualifications per the collective agreement.Application for the 2025-2026 school year This application is for the School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) Teacher Teaching On Call (TTOC) list. New Applicants New applicants must submit their portfolio and upload all requested qualifications (transcripts, certificate, TRB card, evaluations, qualifications/degrees). Classifications are determined based on qualifications, credentials, and recent experience (within 5 years).Applicants not yet BC certified must be certified by the time interviews are held or have their credentialing substantially in progress with the Teacher Regulation Branch. New applicants are expected to work at least one of our District's Families of Schools. More information is available on the SD8 website.Renewal Applicants Returning TTOCs may need to interview and attend an onboarding session. You do not need to resubmit credentials; upload blank documents if necessary. For assistance, contact Ron Sherman at . Minimum Requirements Be certified to teach in British Columbia through the BC Teacher Regulation Branch, with active certificate and paid fees for the year.Hold a Bachelor of Education (minimum) with at least one recognized teaching major/area/focus. Additional Expectations Work positively towards district goals and collaborate with team members. Be prepared to travel across the District, sometimes with short notice and in adverse weather conditions.Teach K-12 curricula using the new curriculum concepts: Big Ideas, Curricular Competencies, and Content Learning Standards within the context of Know, Do, Understand. Understand how to integrate new curriculum concepts into the classroom. Use current assessment principles to guide practices (assessment for, as, of learning).Be proficient with technology (e.g., MyEdBC) for attendance, communication, and reporting. Have a strong understanding of classroom management and differentiation to meet all learners' needs. Understand how to Indigenize the curriculum and incorporate Indigenous voices respectfully. Ensure all learners' needs are included and addressed in the classroom.Preferred Qualifications Recent successful teaching experience and training in specific subject areas or grade levels. Experience with quality assessment practices, including differentiated instruction and criterion-referenced grading.
