About the Role Our Community Mental Health team is experienced and motivated, supporting clients aged 18 and over. The team employs diverse therapies including CBT, family interventions, mindfulness, and DBT, collaborating with local primary schools to enhance community outcomes.You will join a team of 14 psychiatrists, working with dedicated medical, nursing, and allied health professionals to provide care for individuals with complex needs in a community setting. The team also includes 4 training registrars and hosts medical students from the University of Auckland, providing teaching and supervision opportunities.This role involves applying your psychiatry skills and learning about New Zealand's unique cultures, integrating cultural competence into your practice. The service offers a comprehensive range of specialist services, including: Adult and Older People Acute Inpatient Units Child and Adolescent Mental Health ServicesAlcohol and Drug Services Consult Liaison Acute Assessment via the Mental Health Assessment Team Co-Response Service for 111 calls As part of MHAS, your responsibilities include: Providing specialist consultant services Collaborating with other departments Mentoring junior medical staff Working across inpatient, outpatient, community, and crisis settingsParticipating in a 1:10 on-call roster About You We seek a psychiatrist who is vocationally registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, with: Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to person-centered care A drive to improve service delivery Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivityAbility to engage with diverse stakeholders A focus on results and maintaining positive workplace relationships About Us At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki, we value our staff and strive for a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workforce.
