Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and building a health system serving all New Zealanders.About The Role Work in a regional hospital, gain procedural experience, with a supportive team including consultants, senior registrar house officers, junior registrars, medical students, and nursing staff. Lakes Emergency Department is accredited for ED training by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), including Paediatric Logbook/Paediatric Emergency requirements. An accredited six-month Anaesthetic rotation is also offered, providing valuable learning opportunities. Credentialing in Procedural Sedation and ED Ultrasound is available.Receive mentorship from experienced FACEMs, with half of our team achieving Fellowship within the last five years. Participate in writing questions for ACEM Primary and Fellowship exams. Click here for the position description. About The Location Rotorua Hospital offers secondary level specialties, with tertiary care at Waikato Hospital. The patient mix is broad, including trauma, medical, surgical, paediatric, and minor presentations. The community faces social issues, health literacy challenges, and many live in rural areas, adding to the complexity of cases. The population is 35% Māori, and the team is committed to reducing inequities and aligning with ACEM’s Manaaki Mana strategy.The hospital operates in a medium-sized ED with approximately 37,500 attendances annually. Lakes region features geothermal wonders, scenic lakes like Lake Taupō, and opportunities for outdoor activities and cultural experiences.
