(ROT03518) Vacancy No ROT03518 Position Details Trainee&Senior Registrar Emergency Department - Rotorua Hospital Work with Lakes for your 2026 Training Year! About The Role Join the Emergency department as a training or non-training registrar.Experience general and acute medicine in a smaller hospital setting, with a supportive team including consultants, house officers, medical students, and nurses. Rotorua ED is accredited for 24 months of ED training by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), including paediatric logbook. We offer an anaesthetic rotation, placements in general medicine and paediatrics, and 4 hours of protected teaching weekly. Several FACEMs are involved in ACEM exam question writing and examination.Click here for the position description. About the Location Rotorua Hospital offers secondary level specialties, with tertiary care at Waikato Hospital. The patient mix includes trauma, medical, surgical, paediatric, and minor presentations. The community has high deprivation and social issues, with many in rural areas, making the work challenging but rewarding. The population is 35% Māori, and the team is committed to reducing inequity and supporting the ACEM Manaaki Mana strategy.Support is strong with 12 ED SMOs and 14 ED RMOs. There are opportunities for procedural experience, and many FACEMs have achieved Fellowship recently, ensuring current expertise to support trainees. The ED sees approximately 37,500 attendances annually in a friendly, medium-sized team. Lakes region offers scenic lakes, hiking, mountain biking, water sports, and Māori cultural experiences.About You You will have: MCNZ registration or be eligible for general or provisional registration.
