Job Description - Rural Registrar - Thames Hospital Annual Recruitment 2026 (THA00892) Job Number THA00892 Thames Hospital Accreditation as Rural Hospital attachment for Rural Hospital Medicine training (RNZCGP-DRHM) This role offers exposure to a wide variety of clinical cases across different areas, with outdoor activities available in the Coromandel Peninsula during your days off.Accommodation is provided, and you will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team. Other accredited registrar training options are available at Thames Hospital (ED—RHM, General Medicine—RHM, RACP). This is an accredited training position with the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine. We encourage applications from Māori communities. Candidates with at least two years of postgraduate hospital experience and an interest in rural medicine are eligible. The environment offers broad generalist training with diverse cases. Supervision is provided by specialists in rural hospital, emergency medicine, and internalmedicine. There are opportunities for career development.Thames features a 15-bed emergency department and inpatient unit, providing experience across various clinical areas. Located as a gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula, Thames offers access to native bush, world-class walks, tramps, and surf beaches. This attachment is part of the Te Manawa Taki regional training network, including rotations within Waikato, Lakes, and Bay of Plenty districts.About You As a Rural Medicine Registrar, you will Have completed 2 years of postgraduate hospital placement Hold General Registration with MCNZ (or Provisional if new to NZ with at least two years of experience) Be enrolled in the RNZCGP Rural Hospital Medicine training programme or interested in Rural Medicine (preference for RHM trainees; contact Dr Rory Miller for inquiries)How to Apply Click“ Apply online ” or visit our Waikato Careers website.
