Increasing engagement and participation with Parliament is one of the core goals of the Parliamentary Engagement team, and we have an opportunity for a Senior Education Adviser to be part of this vision.We've made good progress, but we still have mahi to do to connect Parliament and its important role to New Zealanders. We're committed to increasing the perception that Parliament is by the people, for the people, and we want an experienced educator who understands the principles of education to help achieve this goal.Mō te tūnga | About the role: As a Senior Education Adviser, you’ll contribute at both an operational and strategic level. You’ll be responsible for providing high-quality education experiences and resources for audience groups (internal and external), along with mentoring advisers in the Education Team.Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities: Design and develop resources to support the delivery of educational programmes and resources, and plan and deliver high quality professional development programmes for public servants and Parliamentary staff. Provide substantive input to support and plan the deliveryof parliamentary induction, professional development programmes for members of Parliament and parliamentary staff.Lead initiatives and model behaviours that influence, motivate and enable others to contribute towards the effectiveness and success of the Education Team and where appropriate the Parliamentary Engagement team. Support the Education Lead and Manager, Parliamentary Engagement in the planning and oversight of project work.Tō kete | What you will bring to the role: Demonstrable experience in an operational educational environment. Background in teaching in the classroom or within an ELC (Enriching Local Curriculum) setting. Detailed knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and educational best practices and how these apply to the teaching of civics education.Detailed knowledge and understanding of Parliament's processes and practices. Project management experience, including organising a complex programme of events for a wide variety of stakeholders. Strong relationship management skills with the ability to effectively use these in a politically sensitive environment.Be action-oriented with a high level of initiative and resilience. Committed to increasing your own and others' knowledge of Te Reo and tikanga Māori, with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of Māoritanga and its relevance to work practices. The appointing base salary for this role is $93,840 to $103,020 per annum.
