About The Role As a Registered Nurse in our pre-assessment unit, you will ensure the smooth and efficient assessment and admission of patients to the hospital by gathering necessary information, verifying details, preparing patients for their procedures, and liaising with other health care professionals.You Will Be responsible for the assessment of elective surgical patients with a wide variety of surgical specialties (general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, plastics, gynaecology, ENT, neurology, vascular, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic) Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care Identify potential medical complicationsProvide interventions, treatments and therapies. Your practice will be in line with the code of conduct and professional boundaries of the nursing professional body. This role is permanent part-time, 32 hours per fortnight and is located at Wakefield Hospital in Newtown. About You Desired Skills and ExperienceSkills As a Registered Nurse, you will have excellent organisational and time management skills, be flexible and open-minded, and successfully work in a team. You will also demonstrate and have the following skills and experiences: Registered Nurse with current NZ Nursing Council APC Demonstrated nursing experience in the management of surgical patients and pre operative careDemonstrate proficiency in basic clinical assessment and nursing interventions. Experience in pre-operative assessment Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and compassion in patient interactions.
