Description
Lead our effort to get Ubuntu fit for mission-critical environments like automotive, aerospace, industrial robotics, and other highly regulated uses. We now aim to invest in processes, engineering, tools, and analysis to enable building mission-critical systems that meet regulatory requirements with Ubuntu.Canonical seeks a Development Lifecycle Engineer passionate about engineering excellence and open source, with experience implementing agile release trains across multiple products. The role demonstrates how open source can lead innovation while fulfilling regulated space engineering demands. It bridges Canonical's open source processes with regulated technology platform requirements, focusing on compliance and certification. This role is hands-on: enhancing delivery quality, security, and developer experience. You will lead, challenge, and influence culture and work environment.Your responsibilities include collaborating with engineering stakeholders to demonstrate Canonical's 'ways of working', defining and implementing continuous improvement processes, establishing qualification requirements, and supporting engineering quality standards. You will work closely with teams to challenge positively, develop controls alongside existing processes, and establish strategic relationships with external groups, committees, and partners. You will report to the Vice President of Engineering Excellence and work with engineering leadership to realize this vision.Location: This role may be based anywhere in European, Middle Eastern, African, or Americas regions or time zones. What we are looking for in you Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment A passion for developing people and teams, with a proven track recordExperience leading compliance and certification efforts, understanding stakeholder management Knowledge or certification in industry standards such as ISO IEC 9001, 25010, and 15504 / SPICE Experience with successful open source projects known for their engineering processes Additional Skills That You Might Also Bring Background as a software developerExperience establishing product metrics and KPIs Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills What we offer you Your base pay depends on location, experience, knowledge, and skills.
