The New Zealand Traveller Declaration (NZTD) is a new digital form used to collect information from travelers arriving in Aotearoa New Zealand via air and sea. It ensures safety and security by verifying that travelers bring only what is appropriate into the country.Our vision is a modern, digital, and streamlined border into New Zealand that supports seamless travel by air and sea. To achieve this, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Automation Engineer to join our NZTD team. This role involves delivering and improving the test function for the product, with a focus on automation.The engineer will work across multiple agencies, providing assurance that the delivery meets functional, non-functional, security, stability, and suitability requirements. The goal is to develop a fully automated, integrated testing environment covering our product stack, reducing risks and optimizing deployment.You will work with technologies such as Azure Services, Rancher, Nginx, and React-based applications to deliver value to stakeholders. Your responsibilities include developing test automation frameworks, enhancing testing capabilities, and supporting inter-agency testing processes. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Wellington Customhouse.To succeed, you should have: Experience in designing test approaches for technical implementations Strong knowledge of test automation, programming, SQL, web services, API testing, and non-functional testing Proficiency in programming and understanding risks in software architecture Experience with DevOps and continuous delivery practicesAbility to evolve testing practices and migrate manual tests to automated models Experience in producing test plans and reports for technical and business audiences Familiarity with Agile, Product Management, ITIL, Jira, Confluence, and Selenium (preferred but not essential) We are committed to a positive workplace environment, emphasizing belonging, growth, and safety.
