Permanent full time | Wellington-based | Flexible working Salary $101k - $121k with KiwiSaver and wellbeing benefits MBIE is looking for a Senior Advisor with excellent relationship building skills to work closely with the Head of Emergency Management and Business Continuity and the Lead Advisor Incident Management and Recovery on an ambitious work programme.The Senior Advisor Emergency Management is a specialist position in MBIE. In partnership with the Lead Advisor Incident Management and Recovery, you’ll be responsible for supporting the development of organisation-wide Incident Management, Recovery and Catastrophic programmes for MBIE. To do this you’ll need to provide subject matter expertise and support to build a comprehensive incident management framework.Your ability to establish positive, consultative style working relationships with people at all levels is a key success factor for this role. Together with senior leaders and operational delivery teams, you’ll facilitate the process of developing, implementing and embedding the Ministry’s incident and emergency management arrangements.Once in place, you’ll be involved in testing arrangements with the business groups to ensure that plans have been properly socialised and referred to in response to potential incidents. Being able to critically assess and provide credible suggestions is key in this element of the role. The ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and build people capability to respond is also important.The Emergency Management and Business Continuity team is an adaptable positive team, this team prides itself on creating a supportive environment for learning and celebrating achievements. Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required Extensive experience in incident management within a large organisation or a New Zealand Government Department. Understanding and experience of business continuity management would be desirable.Superior relationship management, influencing and problem resolution skills. Demonstratable experience in responding to incidents, along with good understanding and experience of using NZ’s Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS). Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, delivering hands-on emergency management policies, procedures, and systems.Demonstratable experience of managing significant programmes of work. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Well-developed inter-personal skills and the ability to work at all levels within the organisation including with senior management.
