Employment Assessor/Advisor Location: Wellington Contract: Fixed Term until 30 June 2026 (contingent on funding; if not secured, ends 30 September 2025) Part-time: 30 hours per week About The Role– Kōrero Mō Te Tūranga We are seeking an Employer Assessor/Advisor for our Pathways to Employment Programme in Wellington. The role involves conducting in-depth, client-centered career and employment assessments to develop tailored employment plans, including English language assessments. Maintaining relationships with local and regional language providers is also essential.The role includes supporting employment orientation, training workshops, and developing refugees’ knowledge to facilitate their entry into the New Zealand workforce. You will work closely with clients and potential employers to create sustainable employment outcomes. Who are we looking for? – Mā wai te mahi nei?To Be Successful You Will Have: Knowledge of refugee settlement issues, NZ employment sectors, and language/skills requirements for tertiary study. Tertiary qualification in a relevant field; qualifications in language teaching or applied linguistics are desirable, along with membership in professional bodies like CDANZ or TESOLANZ.Experience in second language teaching to adults, assessing language competencies, and evaluating work readiness. Ability to guide career planning and support clients through job search and employment preparation. Excellent communication skills, intercultural competence, active listening, and ability to work with diverse populations.Strong IT skills, strategic thinking, initiative, time management, and independence in professional development.
