Based in Christchurch or Wellington, you will be part of a diverse and supportive team with global experience from technical and project leaders, senior engineers, and recent graduates.Projects range from connecting renewable energy sites to upgrading networks for resilience. While each project has unique design requirements, much of the work adheres to Transpower standards. Experience with DigSilent PowerFactory, Transpower standards, and Stationware is advantageous. Additional secondary or communications design experience would also be valuable.At Beca, you'll learn from top professionals, contribute ideas, and leverage technical expertise for complex electrical projects. You will influence project delivery and have opportunities to develop consulting skills, project management, and technical expertise, including industry accreditation. Career progression options include roles such as design manager, client relationship manager, or technical specialist.Ko wai koe | About you Our protection settings engineers are passionate about making a real-world difference through their engineering, design, and attention to detail. You will understand client project requirements, analyze, and problem-solve. Curiosity and research skills are essential, as is the ability to interpret data, drawings, and site photos, including conducting on-site visits. Strong communication skills, including report writing, are also important. You should know your limits and seek input when necessary, such as from Beca’s protection settings technical experts.Successful candidates will have previous protection settings experience, either from a consulting environment or within an asset owner in the transmission or distribution sectors. This role is not suitable for recent graduates. You should be a relationship builder, able to work collaboratively with engineers and clients, and eager to learn from others. A good sense of humor and a positive attitude will help you thrive.
