About the Role The registered nurse provides triage (assessment and formulation of the situation) and advice to other areas of the police and ambulance service who may also be attending a police call-out.The registered nurse will work alongside local mental health services to develop service-wide response plans that enable other agencies to support individuals and their support persons when contacting emergency services. The registered nurse will respond to the changing needs of the District, performing other tasks as required. The nurse is expected to contribute to the implementation of District and nursing goals and values and promote Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Capital, Coast, and Hutt Valley as a center of excellence for nursing practice.About the Team/Service/Location The Co-Response Team (CRT) is an interagency team comprising a Police Officer, Paramedic, and Mental Health Care Practitioners (HCP). They collaborate to provide a coordinated and responsive service to individuals experiencing mental health distress contacting emergency services. The team engages with services to better meet clients' needs in the community, prioritizing client-centered decision-making.Having a Police Officer, Paramedic, and Mental Health Professional at mental health emergency events improves service quality and reduces transports to emergency departments and the use of police mental health powers.
