This 6-month contract role will lead business assessments and analysis activities with a focus on identifying opportunities, risks, and operational changes needed to support AI adoption across the organization.Working in NZ Police's GenAI Lab, there will often be uncertainty, requiring continuous learning and adaptation, resulting in experimentation and iteration to find the best AI solutions. This approach aligns with Agile methodologies, breaking down complex AI concepts into manageable iterations, fostering collaboration with SMEs, and adapting to evolving requirements.We need someone who: Is outcome-driven and doesn’t over-engineer solutions Can work collaboratively in a small, tight-knit team of three Has strong communication skills and can influence senior leaders Can quickly translate conversations and workshops into actionable outputs Brings a “get stuff done” attitudeKeeps work tightly scoped and focused on delivering value This role will initially focus on a proof of concept, with potential to expand into broader initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Identify and define business needs and problems that AI can solve or enhanceCollaborate with the technical team to investigate concepts and develop prototypes Translate AI business needs into high-level technical requirements, including ethical frameworks and risk assessments Model current and future business processes, analyzing them to identify AI-driven value and efficienciesContribute to designing AI operating models and workflows within Police Understand data usage by AI systems and work with data professionals to ensure data governance, quality, and privacy Assess data sufficiency and enhancement needs for AI outcomes Interpret and validate AI-driven insights for accuracy and actionabilityConduct AI readiness and maturity assessments Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders Required Skills&Experience: 5+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst in ICT, with at least 2+ years in AI, Data, or Digital Transformation projects Experience with Agile, Design Thinking, and hybrid delivery models Strong understanding of AI concepts such as machine learning, NLP, computer vision, generative AI, and data sciencepipelinesProven experience with business capability assessments and AI use case analysis Skilled in business process modeling, operating model design, and gap analysis Strong stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business languageExperience with AI governance and ethical frameworks Proficiency with tools like Jira, Confluence, BPMN (e.g., Visio), Power BI, and Excel Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques and model fine-tuning processes Preferred Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Business, IS, CS, or related; Master’s or postgraduate diplomas in AI preferredBusiness Analysis certifications (IC Agile, IIBA CBAP, BCS BA Diploma) Certifications in advanced AI technologies like GANs, LLMs, Databricks Understanding of Responsible AI, governance frameworks, and data privacy regulations Personal Attributes: Strategic thinker with curiosity for emerging techStrong analytical and problem-solving skills Confident communicator who can influence and challenge Collaborative and adaptable to ambiguity and complexity Passionate about innovation and responsible AI adoption Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Contract Job function Information TechnologyIndustries IT Services and IT Consulting #J-18808-Ljbffr
