Government We are seeking a permanent, full-time Special Education Advisor to join our team based in the Kaitāia office, Northland. Role Overview As a Special Education Advisor, you will play a critical role in our Learning Support team by: Collaborating with educators, parents, caregivers, and whānau to understand the child's needs and behaviors.Developing, implementing, and monitoring personalized learning plans. Supporting adults around the child to modify learning environments, promote pro-social behaviors, and enhance participation, wellbeing, and learning outcomes. Facilitating access to additional services such as speech and language therapy and other agencies.Promoting inclusive practices within schools and educational settings. Qualifications and Skills Demonstrable experience and skills in supporting children with severe and challenging behaviors. Ability to work collaboratively with professionals, agencies, and families. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for maintaining professional relationships.Commitment to evidence-based, inclusive education practices that raise student achievement. Bachelor of Teaching or Postgraduate Diploma in Special Education/Educational Psychology. Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity, with a commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
